Our goal is to make travel to our practice as convenient as possible during this life-changing experience. Depending on your needs, we can arrange for a day visit (we are a convenient 15-minute drive from SeaTac International Airport), a single night stay, as well as for recovery after surgery. We have tailor-made protocols for our out of town patients, and we will help you organize and plan your accommodations.

Virtual Consultation

Encrypted HIPAA-compliant video consultations are offered via Doximity.  During this appointment, our surgeons will be able to discuss your goals, and candidacy for surgery and answer any questions or concerns you may have. A physical exam is essential to determining your candidacy for any type of surgery.

How Long Do I Need to Stay in Seattle After Surgery?

The answer depends on the surgery. After larger operations such as a mommy makeover, breast revision surgery, or a circumferential/3600 body lift, facelift, or the DIEP Flap, we recommend staying for a minimum of 7 days after surgery. For smaller procedures such as breast augmentation, upper or lower blepharoplasty, or liposuction, we recommend staying for at least 5 days after surgery.

Where is the Best Place to Recover After Surgery?

This is different for every patient. Our goal is to help you find a local and convenient accommodations that suit your needs. There are local hotels of all ranges that help make your trip seamless and your return visits to our clinic as convenient as possible. Our team will help guide you to the accommodations that best fit your needs while here in Seattle. If you are a breast cancer patient, there are options and programs further down this page that may be available help you with the expenses of your stay.

Tax Considerations for Breast Cancer Patients

For our breast cancer patients, please be aware that many of your travel costs to obtain reconstruction may be partially tax-deductible if no one in your region performs the method of reconstruction you are seeking (https://www.irs.gov/publications/p502), “Lodging,” “Transportation,” and “Travel” sections).  We strongly urge you to discuss this with your tax professional so that you may take advantage of all tax benefits available to you as a result of the financial hardship you are enduring to obtain breast reconstruction.

Travel Programs Available to Breast Cancer Patients

Extended Stay America – Housing assistance in cooperation with the American Cancer Society

Mercy Medical Angels – Travel assistance (gas cards, bus, train, airfare) 

Angel Flight West – Travel assistance via private aircraft (recommend Renton Municipal Airport, RNT, 10 min from our Renton clinic and Ambulatory Surgery Center).

Pink Lemonade Project – For Oregon residents only, travel and lodging help, up to $800/yr.  Applications can be found here, and are required to be completed with a local healthcare provider, which can include a social worker, navigator, oncologist, PA, ARNP, etc.
