STAFF BIOGRAPHIES

How does one select a plastic surgeon? Your choice of a plastic surgeon should be based upon your assessment of their training, competence, caring and experience. You may obtain a referral from your personal physician or from acquaintances who have undergone cosmetic surgery.

To be certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, a physician must first complete a course of five to eight years of training after graduation from medical school. This residency includes at least two to three years of specialty training in plastic surgery at a university center. After this training the physician must pass a written and oral examination. Drs. Briscoe, Chang and Hutter are board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

The doctors of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeons are part of the clinical faculty of the University of Washington Medical Center. Both medical students and plastic surgery residents spend time at this office. This continuous educational exchange assures you of the most updated care possible.

Education
  • Harvard Medical School, Doctor of Medicine
  • University of Washington School of Medicine, residency in general surgery

My training in some of the most complex cases of trauma, cancer reconstruction, and congenital anomalies have given me a great foundation for working all over the body and with all other disciplines of surgery. My early love of art and sculpting always seemed to be a different world from my medical track, but my practice has allowed me to merge these qualities- combining form with function, reconstruction with aesthetics. It is an absolute privilege to use my mind and my hands to help people."
